Mandate
A statutory member of the Task Force pursuant to Article 209(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, the UPDF Act Cap. 330 and the UPDF-UWA Memorandum of Understanding. Provides security support to joint enforcement operations against wildlife and forest crime, anti-poaching and anti-trafficking deployments, command coordination in protected areas and border regions, and high-risk operations against armed poaching groups.
KPIs
Capacity building: support to the UWA Ranger Training School, joint tactical training with ranger units, weapons handling and rules-of-engagement instruction for field teams. Intelligence & investigations: general intelligence-sharing with Task Force member agencies in support of joint operations.
Powers
Joint enforcement operations, anti-poaching and anti-trafficking deployments, securing of critical forest blocks and protected areas, and command coordination with UWA and Police in high-risk operations. Seized firearms recovered in joint operations stand among the UPDF's contributions to the Task Force. (Publication of operational specifics is subject to UPDF security clearance.)
